Go Straight (original mix) -D84 REMIX-
14This is my 2024 remix of the "Go Straight" (original mix)/(beat mix) song, from the iconic beat em' up sequel: Streets of Rage 2/Bare Knuckle II, on the Sega Mega-Drive/Sega Genesis/(セガメガドライブ).
The percussion is a bit more like the original song compared to my other mixes, with heavy 909 snares, and heavy kickdrums throughout. I was in two minds about all the vocals, but I thought I would leave them in, as it gives the mix more of it's own identity. I know this remix is very different to my Go Straight (game mix), but that's what I like about it, that it has it's own vibe and feel, and that it's not just a copy and paste job. When the main verse kicks in, I added a clap sound, which has some reverb: I think this was as far as I was willing to go as to modernising the beat too much, but still, it gives the track more punch as the main verse and chorus parts kick-in.
All of the melodies I composed a few years ago, and I think they fit nicely here, but one part I didn't compose was the main verse techno keys: (I sampled both the versions of the keys from the original Go Straight song, and from the Go Straight (MD ver.), from Yuzo Koshiro's early collection box album.) I mixed the two versions of the verse keys together, but mainly giving the volume to the original version, as it has more of a punch to it.
This is my favourite of all my Go Straight remixes that I have ever made, but that is just my opinion, (of which is subjective). I hope everybody likes this remix as much as I do, but even if not so, I think it has turned out ok in the end anyway.
