Goblin Stone - Keep a Band of Puny Goblins Alive to Flourish in this Turn-Based RPG
20Demo playthrough of Goblin Stone, a turn-based RPG that feels like a mix of Darkest Dungeon and Watership Down. With most goblins wiped out in the land, you lead a small band of goblins to establish a new lair and build your goblin warparty to complete missions for food and treasure.
It's overall fun but there's a lot of polish to be expected before a release. The art's quite nice although something about the human sprites seem off, or perhaps a bit too basic. There's a narrator similar to Darkest Dungeon but they are far less used. Gameplay is pretty solid although the random two skills per turn can make things a little rough if you're trying to heal a wounded member (heals are also pretty weak compared to the damage you sustain) and once a goblin reaches 0 hp they are permadead. Stuns are very OP (which if you've played Darkest Dungeon you might lean towards anyhow) as with a good setup you can chain stun enemies - especially with how good the hunter's snare trap is.
There's little you can do to upgrade or use the lair in this demo and what little you can do isn't explained, although after a few minutes I believe I have a much better grasp on the mechanics. As your peons to recruit from may not have the stat requirements to change class it might not be possible to really fiddle with classes outside what you get at the start though hopefully subsequent updates make that easier.
Still, I'm interested to see where this one goes.
