GoDai: Elemental Force (PS2) Gameplay -No Commentary-
You know, I thought I had at least play tested this game previously, but nope, today was my first time playing it. I know that 3DO wasn't always known for making the best games, but Godai has such an admirable amount of cheese to it's gameplay that I have to tip my hat to it. I thought that games like Soul Fighter and Hidden Invasion from Toka were on another level of cheese, but 3DO was trying their best to take the crown. Godai, as you can see, is definitely not a well made game. The controls are janky and you have no control over the camera; the fighting system is kind-of beat-em-up, kind of not; and the overall presentation is as cheesy as gaming gets. The best part is, this wasn't done on purpose. I think they really wanted to make a serious game here, but the generic nature of the game just makes the whole thing cheesy.
It's not a great game, most people wouldn't even condier it to be a good game, but I found it to be playable. It's an all around mediocre title, but it's not broken. It's playable. It reminds me of Toka's efforts in Soul Fighter and Hidden Invasion to where both of those games have their flaws, but you can play them, and still find some enjoyment out of them. Godai is kind of on that level with the same level of cheese as those games.
