Godot Project Outcast Update
11Project Outcast (Wip name) is a Godot game in development currently by one guy and a bunch of Youtube tutorials, links below. At the moment I don't have much in place and at least one known bug I need to sort out.
As for the game itself...
Outcast will be set in a science fiction fantasy setting where all technology is powered by spirit and solidified spirit in the form of magic crystals which are also used as currency. You will be able to choose your background and reason for being outcast which will give you starting affinities and skills which will help you in your ultimate goal to escape the prison planet you get dumped on.
The game will have a focus on resource gathering, grades of materials, crafting and altering the quality of materials in order to forge unique foods, consumables, tools, armor and weapons. Exploration of the world is still being set up but the world will be broken up into zones with fast travel options once you have unlocked new zones and a means of transport. Unlike in Starbound where you can loop around the planet in a few minutes, the planet(s) you explore in Outcast will be MASSIVE. Each biome will be relegated to a number of zones and you will have to travel a fair distance to reach new biomes. Villages will help break up the monotony of travel and offer a means of fast travel to new biomes and towns.
I'm still VERY early in development and much of what I have planned isn't in code yet, but I have made considerable progress in the last two weeks while working a full time job.
I hope you'll share this video with friends and keep watching for my next project update. The name of the game will inevitably change as I get further in development, but for now Outcast will do just fine.
