- DESCRIPTION:
Oh, this music takes me back. I used to play Shrek 2: The Game a lot with my cousin when I was a kid, and for good reason. It's definitely one of the best movie-based video games ever made. It's a basic co-op beat 'em up, but it's done very well, with each character having his/her own special abilities / traits that are needed to advance in each level. For example, Shrek can pick up heavy items, and Puss in Boots can walk on tightropes.
It doesn't follow the movie entirely, but that's not really a bad thing. I'd rather have a movie-based game that uses source material from the movie as a template for its own game design, than a movie-based game that does everything it can to follow the movie and just ends up being a mess.
The music is surprisingly good I find. It's only after a few listens that I realise just how well done this soundtrack is. And this is my favourite piece in the game indefinitely. It's so catchy, and has a such a treacherous mood about it. My favourite part is at 0:51. I honestly can't get it out of my head.
