Despite the option for micro-transactions, more advanced gear does not automatically result in success. Those who master the control system and learn how to play certain courses can win against better equipped players. This creates a rare balance of skill and purchasing power, not common in free to play games, and results in a game which is addictive for all the right reasons. Golf Clash can also be played locally with friends with fun game modes and challenges. The game does have a few problems, however. Putting appears to be automatic than other shots, resulting in a first to the green wins approach to matches. Unlocks are incredibly slow, but this is less of an issue thanks to the skill level.
