0I was feeling exhausted when I started so I cranked back an Monster before recording. I thought I sounded like an over the top maniac but I'm willing to accept it.
I think I got the other guy habit initially from listening to Dan Harmon and then following up on research. He said, "I can't let the other guy win" which caught my attention. To this day, I'm not sure if he actually uses this particular technique but I found it interesting in either case.
