Well, after nearly killing Arc a second time, Shiki gets summarily kicked to the curb as Arc more or less says that it's better if they don't ever meet again. This, of course, sends Shiki into a depression spiral since he just lost what is apparently his sole reason for living. So thank goodness that Ciel suddenly reappears to provide some exposition and food for thought for him. Even if Shiki doesn't remember who she is for some weird reason.
