Gore reviews - Brutal Doom
Edit: apparently you can configure the amount of blood on the environment by typing bd_bloodamount in the console and the values vary from 1 to 4. While the higher values do spawn more stains, they also make the blood puff significantly bigger, and it still doesn't look proportional to the splatter.

About Gore Reviews:
Gore Reviews is a review series reviewing blood and gore effects in games that are considered gory.
Attention to detail will be rewarded with high scores, while flashy, but superficial effects (such as blood puffs) will not impact the score much.
The final score is calculated by the following categories:
Body damage - 30%
Environment - 30%
Animations and sounds - 30%
The feel - 10%
Why is gore important? It's simply feedback for the action on the screen. What's more fun, seeing detailed response for every hit you make on an enemy or seeing the enemy sleeping peacefully after a mortar exploded by their feet? Compare 1987`s Robocop movie to 2014`s Robocop movie. Also "Saving Private Ryan" wouldn't have nearly the same effect without the gore too.

So how to play this?
Download the following stuff - Zandronum (*or GZDoom), Freedom and Brutal Doom
https://zandronum.com/downloads/zandronum2.0-win32-installer.exe
https://github.com/freedoom/freedoom/releases/download/v0.9/freedoom-0.9.zip
http://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom/downloads/brutal-doom-version-20
Above are direct links that may become outdated in the future. Here are the main pages:
https://zandronum.com/
http://freedoom.github.io/index.html
http://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom
First thing you do is install Zandronum, and unpack Freedom and Brutal Doom somewhere accessible.
Move the entire contents of Freedom and Brutal Doom into the folder of Zandronum. Make sure that
brutalv20.pk3
freedoom1.wad
freedoom2.wad
are in the same folder with zandronum.exe
Next select freedom1.wad (or 2, doesn't matter), also select brutav20.pk3 and drag them over on zandronum.exe
After the game launches exit and drag brutalv20.pk3 on zandronum.exe
Configure the game and enjoy!
*GZDoom works too and has certain advantages, the installation and activation process should be the same as for Zandornum.
