You are not imagining it. The Graphics Card market has gotten worse and will continue to get worse. GPU prices have reached insane levels. The reasons are simple but unyielding. Crypotcurrency mining, particularly Ethereum, has driven GPU prices to levels several times higher than their MSRPs. This is because these cards literally print money, making the demand from miners infinite. When Inifite demand meets limited supply, prices go through the roof.

So when does the GPU Market get better? When will graphics card prices go down? There are several things that could happen, and we explore each one and what it will take. A cryptocurrency crash similar to 2018-2019 could be one factor. However, is that actually likely? Segmenting mining GPUs and Gaming GPUs is another path, but how long will that take?

If you want to get a new GPU right now, what should you be doing? First of all, stop focusing on cards like the RTX 3080 that are cut down versions of higher cards like the 3090. We go into product binning, and why it means you likley will be waiting a very long time if you are only focused on cards like the 3080, 3060 Ti, or RX 6800 line. Then of course there are physical stores like Microcenter. There are other solutions still and we review them all.
