Série Gran Turismo kdysi patřila k naprosté špičce virtuálních simulátorů, ale snad i kvůli až nesnesitelnému důrazu na detail s posledními díly nedokázala vnímat celkový obraz a pokrok žánru. Gran Turismo Sport z roku 2017 konkurenci sice dohnalo, ale zaměřením zejména na online závodění zabouchlo dveře velkému množství fanoušků. Gran Turismo 7 chce vše napravit a na PS4 a PS5 potěšit vyznavače kariérního režimu i multiplayeru zároveň.
