Grand Prix Circuit (1988) - Every PC F1 Game
Grand Prix Circuit by Distinctive Software/Accolade, 1988.
This PC DOS game could be considered the first attempt at a proper F1 simulator on the PC, although it's massively simplified, compared to later games.
The sound on this DOS version is far worse than the 16 bit home computer versions of the time.
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Race starts can be a busy affair, as the computer controlled cars pretty much fill the whole circuit, when racing side-by-side! Overtaking opportunities can take a little bit of time to come along!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:22 This game has no wet weather, so here's a bit of gameplay in dry conditions instead.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:34 The first F1 game on PC to feature a tunnel! It's pretty basic though, but at least looks like a tunnel!
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 0:46 This is using Hockenheim, as the game doesn't have Spa-Francorchamps. This game has no wet weather, so here's a bit of gameplay in dry conditions instead.
5, Pitstop (Interlagos): 0:59 This is using Rio, as the game doesn't have Interlagos. The first PC F1 game to feature a pitstop! It's fairly basic though, you choose from changing one side or the other, or all tyres (takes longer).
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:20 The crash effect in this game basically adds a broken nosecone graphic just above your dashboard, then ends the race! At least you can cause your rivals to spin out when you crash!
