Grandia - Part 7/14 - Sega Saturn - グランディア ~ Romantic Getaways... and a Game Crash

Grandia is a JRPG that originally came out in 1997 on the Sega Saturn. It was later ported to the PS1, but the PS1 version is usually considered to be inferior. Grandia's selling points are its humor and its battle system. During the nearly 50-hour playthrough, you start to care for these characters, and as their relationships develop, so does your attachment to them. The dialogue is always funny, and the characters are colorful. The battle system uses an active timeline system that lets you cancel, anticipate or plan attacks. Characters constantly come in and out of your party, so the game forces you to use a wide range of characters throughout the game, which is a plus IMO. Instead of using the same party members for the entirety of the game because you're used to them, you get to try out different styles and discover new abilities because the game forces you to. There are bonus dungeons I had hoped I could have tried, but once I finished the game, I did not have any save files that would let me go back to them. That's unfortunate. I had a blast with adventurers Justin, Sue, Feena, Gadwin, Rapp, Milda (Miluda) and Liete - and side-characters like Rin (Leen) and Mullen were great, too. I'm glad I finally played through it!
