Gravity Circuit - Full Playthrough - Hard Mode, No powerups, No deaths, Fading Onyx Chip
This is a challenge longplay requested by a YT friend @arXiv2311 , which we both agreed to have a lot of restrictions in order to make the run more challenging:
- Play in Hard Mode
- No booster chips or burst techniques equipped/used
- No deaths allowed
- No intentional damage to Kai or Powered Walker to bypass parts of the game
- No use of checkpoint boosts or reload last checkpoint. Not even pausing the game
- Minimize damage taken as much as possible
- Rescue all civilians
- Collect all health/burst upgrades
- Collect all palette chips from the 8 main stages
- Beat the 8 main stages in the normal order (Top row first, Bottom row last, each from left to right)
- Enter the 4 sub sections in Hash stage in the developer intended order (bottom left, bottom right, top left, top right)
- Picking always the left branching path in every section of Ark 3 Stage
- Equip the Fading Onyx chip after beating the intro stage, to increase damage taken by about 60% for the rest of the game
- Other system-related setups: Disable console notifications, start from a new game file, disable speedrun mode to keep all cutscenes and important dialogues
About this longplay: I'm really satisfied with it. While I was playing, I always kept in mind that 1.2.0 is quite hard with the new game modifiers, so getting the normal longplay done shouldn't be too hard. Doing it at great quality was. I tried to get some big medals along the way, and I got 5 out of the 12 stages, the last one at Ark 1. So in that way, I think the run was pretty solid. There were some sloppy stages, like the beginning of Crash stage, and the simulation fights to Hash and Bit at Ark 2, and some very bad boss fights. But there were also many perfect or almost perfect fights, like the final bosses, where I only took one hit at the very end, which is hard with no extra powerups equipped. It is hard to be at peak performance at every section and boss fight in a row, so it's fine if some of them weren't as clean as I expected.
I think this is my final video in 1.1.0 version of Gravity Circuit, and I did most of the challenges available now, so I'm planning on playing other games before 1.2.0 version comes to Switch. When that happens, I will focus on uploading new videos with the game modifiers that change the initial gameplay, so I will probably upload new perfect runs or longplays, as long as the challenge itself is still doable.
Hope you enjoy this video, which took a lot of time to get it done, because I had to re-learn all stages with these new rules, which took months of practice, and besides it was difficult to get enough free time to play without any disturbance for almost 3 hours (very hard for a husband, you know). And many thanks to Domesticated Ant Games for developing this awesome game, these runs wouldn't exist if it weren't by their hard work to create games like this. Keep the good work ;)
