What's Your Angle? Practical Considerations When Developing Phase Coherent RF Platforms with Sidekiq X4

Presented by Bobby Smith at GNU Radio Conference 2020
https://gnuradio.org/grcon20

Designing and deploying phase coherent RF systems in practice can be a challenging exercise. In this talk, we will be presenting work that we've done at Epiq Solutions to simplify the deployment of phase coherent RF systems using our Sidekiq X4, a 4x4 MIMO capable RF transceiver in a VITA 57.1 FMC card form factor. This talk will provide a background on existing phase coherent approaches, then jump in to how we leverage the novel phase synchronization capability on the ADRV9009 RFIC to achieve phase coherence. System calibration considerations and real-world phase coherence performance measurements will be presented to help users understand the level of coherence that can be achieved in practice.
