🎮 How to Downgrade GTA IV and Install iCEnhancer 4.0 (2025 Guide)
This guide is for Windows 10/11 PC users who own GTA IV via Steam or Rockstar Launcher and want to install iCEnhancer 4.0, which only works on older versions of the game (Patch 1.0.3.0 or 1.0.4.0)
STEP 1: Locate Your GTA IV Folder
If installed via Steam or Rockstar Games Launcher, your game folder is usually found here
Steam
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV
Rockstar Launcher
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV
STEP 2: Back Up Your Game Folder
Copy your entire GTA IV folder to a safe location before modding. This lets you restore the game if anything goes wrong
STEP 3: Download the Downgrade Patch
You need to downgrade from the latest Complete Edition (Patch 1.0.8.0 or 1.2.0.59) to Patch 1.0.4.0

Instructions
Download the ZIP from GitHub (click "Code" then "Download ZIP")
Extract the ZIP file
Run Downgrader.exe
Select your GTA IV folder
Choose patch 1.0.4.0
Let the tool downgrade your game and apply compatibility fixes
Important
Do not allow Steam or Rockstar to update your game after this
STEP 4: Download and Install iCEnhancer 4.0
This is the most advanced graphics mod ever released for GTA IV
Search for iCEnhancer 4.0 on GTAForums or check Keilany’s official YouTube or Discord

After downloading
Extract the iCEnhancer 4.0 ZIP file
Copy all files into your GTA IV game folder (same place as GTAIV.exe)
Overwrite any files when asked
STEP 5: Configure the Mod
Use the included enbseries.ini or iceconfig.ini files to tweak things like bloom, reflections, shadows, and depth of field
Start the game first with default settings, then adjust after confirming it runs smoothly
STEP 6: Set GPU Settings and Performance Options
Use your NVIDIA or AMD control panel to apply these settings
Turn on V-Sync
Cap your frame rate to 60 FPS
Enable FXAA or another form of anti-aliasing
Optional
Install RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) to cap FPS at 60 for smoother physics and camera stability
STEP 7: Launch and Test the Game
Run GTAIV.exe as Administrator
If the game crashes
Try running in Windows 7 compatibility mode
Make sure all .dll files from the mod are present
Update your graphics card drivers
Extra Tips for Stability
ENBoost is included in most ENB packages and helps prevent memory crashes
GFWL Disabler is included with the Downgrader tool
You can edit stream.ini (in the game folder) and add this line at the bottom
memory 409600
This allows the game to use up to 4GB RAM, which improves performance
That’s it. You now have GTA IV running with iCEnhancer 4.0 and looking like a completely remastered next-gen game
