GTA V Shadow Fix (Nvidia PCSS vs AMD CHS vs Soft vs Sharp)
Compared to the initial 2013 release for the xbox 360 and PS3, the 2015 PC version of GTA V came with a lot of graphical improvements, from ambient occlusion to high res shadows.
However, the draw distance for high resolution shadows is still abysmally low, to the point where you can say it is just a small box that follows the player character around and can only be enjoyed if you stand right in front of a wall.
The intermediate distance shadows are the subject of today's video. You have the option of choosing how crisp or how blurry they appear. But the blurrier they are, the more stark the transition from blurry to sharp when you approach the wall. The lower the "soft shadow" setting, the sharper the intermediate shadowss, the easier they blend in to the high res "up close" shadows. Hence, it makes most sense to choose a medium setting for the best visuals when moving around. In this video I will also show you why the highest setting isnt automatically the best (and can potentially even be the worst) and how much of an FPS difference each setting causes.
