Guide to Hunting For Multitools in No Man's Sky. lavalamp64. Part 3. The S class Experimental MT.
This is a guide to hunting for multitools, using maps to hunt for Minor Settlements and also showing how reloading for stations A cabinets spawns in different multitools from each reload. Only A class multitools can spawn into an S cabinet so finding something to hunt for is the first step in finding multitools. The second step after finding something to search for is to use the maps to find minor settlements, looking at the MT and then interacting with the NPC in Vy'keen systems to see what they have to offer. MTs can migrate 1 class higher or lower, which means if the MT is a natural A class then it can be found in a B cabinet. That also means a natural B class MT can be found in a C cabinet as well as an A cabinet. But only a natural A class MT can get into an S cabinet but can also be found in a B cabinet. If you find an Alien or Experimental in a B station cabinet then there is a 1 in 20 chance it is naturally an A class MT and can get into an S cabinet. Confusing I know, but it is worth checking anyway. One thing I do is find an A class minor settlement cabinet and reload on every planet and the station to see what spawns into it. It takes time but is a lot quicker than finding an S cabinet. Finding an A cabinet means anything that loads into it "should" spawn into an S cabinet. "Should" but not guaranteed :) I hope this is helpful :)
