In just a few short hours, Happy Chaos will kick open the doors to Guilty Gear Strive and enter the arena as the third DLC character for the game.
From what we've seen from his initial trailer and starter guide, Mr. Chaos appears to be one of the stranger characters placed into Guilty Gear in a good while, and there's some important stuff about him that needs to be understood before jumping into the action.
As can be easily discerned, Happy is pretty much all about firing his guns, but they work in ways you wouldn't really expect in a fighting game.
Unlike other characters in Strive, the new fighter doesn't have just one unique resource to manage at all times but two. Technically three though we'll get more into that in a bit.
Chaos also has a handful of weirder specials outside of his guns that are going to be integral to keep his gameplan going and foes off of his butt.
The center of Happy Chaos' toolkit revolves around his ability to just shoot the enemy with a gun, and he can do so in different ways.
His main shot is set up by entering the special At the Ready stance, which allows for Chaos to blast foes no matter where he or his opponents are.
Yep, while in this special stance, he can still move around freely and fire off at pretty much any time
He can even apparently do so when he's air dashing, so there's going to be some nasty mixup opportunities coming out of his barrel.
What he can't do, however, in this mode is block, so it'll be important to look for an opening during this time though it may be hard to do so with the threat of his Fire almost always lingering.
These shots can miss the mark if the green targeting reticle doesn't show a cross on the opponent, so it could be difficult to nail down a character who's always moving around.
If he can get them locked in his sights, Chaos' blasts become more accurate and powerful the longer the reticle is trained on the other character.
That's definitely not all he has up he sleeve though.
