A short complete addon with cinematic intro and outro. A very small "Blue Shift" for Gunman Chronicles. We play as another Gunman who crash landed on the moon from second episode of the game and must escape before the moon crashes into the planet.
The design perfectly captures alien look and feel of the game. The whole experience feels like a small DLC made by original developers. Stunning alien landscapes take turns with indoor bases. The pacing is perfect. Each time the decorations change it happens at the moment when it would overstay its welcome if took a little longer, so you never feel that a segment is too long or too short. All landscapes and gameplay situations are different from each other, there is a pleasant surprise behind every corner.
The way it looks surely shows the power of JackHammer. Cliffs and architecture are full of smooth curves, which are also smoothly lit. The scenery looks like it's Quake3 engine, not GoldSource.
Second episode is the perfect choice as tension of falling asteroids and approaching planet is the most interesting ground for a fun experience.
There is exploration for hidden secrets, battles are well balanced and the project is filled with professional touches such as falling drops of blood from a dead body which also serve as pointer to the pistol lying on the floor and the path to advance. Sparkles that attract attention to the place where you should throw grenade to solve a puzzle.
Excellent attention to detail. Green crates and the base on top of the cliff form an impressive landmark at 6:31.
Overall this is a great addon that gives a gift of spending 30 more minutes in unique world of Gunman Chronicles.
