Guns Up! is a side scrolling real-time strategy game. You don't directly control any of your soldiers, but you do control their fate by choosing which units you have in your loadout, how you spend your Munitions during the match, what Attack Cards you take into battle, and how and when you use the Attack Cards.

There is an element of luck (what cards do you have) as well because the game grants additional resources (attack cards or munitions) to use during mission on a cool down timer, but in my experience the game has been giving out good stuff generously and you have systems where you can combine card to make them stronger, or try to get a better card by re-rolling 3 you don't care for into 1 that you possibly do like.

The most interest aspect of this endless design game is that it isn't real-time for the PvP. The way it works, is you are given a list of bases by real people that you would go against, and you can see some basic info and the difficulty rating. You then decide to go to War. There is an up front cost of going to war that you lose if you fail, but if you win, the game rewards you. The higher the difficulty (represented by white or red skulls), the greater the risk, and the greater the rewards.

You can even specifically go against your friends bases even if you are severely unprepared, and your cards will get used up, but there is no munition cost and if you do manage to take down heavily defended base that has 3 Red Skulls difficulty, that is a pretty good feeling of accomplishment.

All positives aside, it is a F2P game which means if you are not careful, you could end up spending a lot more than you do on games normally. I don't mind spending what I normally spend on a game especially if I am enjoying my time with the game which I did so I did end up spending some monies on it.
