I noticed 2 days ago, when going to work on some WIP Updating, that a ton of the Libretro Cores were simply GONE! I, luckily, had backed most of them up a few days earlier, however! And, I got roughly 40 people PMing or Pinging me, all day long, nervous about longterm or immediate effects on Hakchi, RetroArch, Mini Classics, and Whatnot! So, here is a video, and description, to help alleviate some of your woes!
Yes, Libretro WAS Officially Hacked, and not in a happy and harmonious nature. One individual and/or party of malicious, ill intent, Cyber Attacked the Github Server containing the hard work, dedication, and sweat, and tears worth of years worth of work! They force pushed blank coding commits, which effectively wiped out all of the many years worth of efforts on several of the Cores!!!
This has had a ripple effect, as those of you who have been relying on Auto Updating, on PC, etc, will be most immediately affected, for the time being.
Mini Classic Wise, Since I work with the majority of the Cores, minus ones we cannot really run, such as Current MAME!, I have maintained fairly up to date coding, as depicted within the context of this video!
Dan pinged my name in the Libretro Discord, and hopefully, some of the source I reposted, came in handy as far as getting things back up to date...
As of two days later, (I started reposting ALL of the source I had on my Linux Server Computer on the same day as the Hack!) ALL of the Cores seem to be accounted for, as reinstatement of their lost coding!
It will take time for the weakest links to strengthen. But, everything will prevail, in the end. And, All of us in the Scene, as well as I am sure...within Libretro, politely and graciously thank you for your tremendous and overall Support!
And, NO, despite the Hack, Viruses and Malware are NOT a component to this Hack. It was most likely meant as a Purge, to completely attempt to wipe Libretro off the Face of the Internet! Have Faith, everyone...Things will get back to good standing, soon enough! We will all get through this, especially with ALL of your continued Support! Thank YOU!!!
So, in the end, I truly hope whomever did this, realizes that they didn't just hurt Libretro...They hurt the thousands upon thousands of End Users who enjoy stuff that comes from the heart of Libretro on a near daily basis. And, I am proud and happy to collaborate with a few dozen individuals who work within the Libretro Organization, each and every Update! And, even some who aren't without Libretro, and are Independent, I also collaborate with in a beautiful and meaningful way, which parlays directly into many of these Amazing Core Updates for the Mini Classics, MD/SNES/NES/PSC, etc, for Performance and Speed and Turbo Boost Mode Activate!
BONUS: Some amazing Golf and Hunting Games are now coded into MAME 2003 Xtreme, and run at a solid 60 FPS! I just need to finetune their controls a bit before officially posting the Core within the Next Release. But, aside from the minor sidetrack of needing to do my best to help and post source for Libretro to potentially grab, and reinstate, everything else is pretty kosher! So, Next Release, is still on schedule for roughly End of August/Early September!

P.S.S.: After doing this video, took a brief time out, and went back to yet another TV Show I never really watched..3rd Rock from the Sun! Hehe. John Lithgow TRULY FTW, and is always highly enjoyable to watch! And, fun to see a younger Joseph Gordon-Levitt, way ahead of his time. I still enjoy watching all of this current flicks, Independent and Major Studio, wise! The rest of the cast is exceptionally entertaining, as well..Jane Curtin, great as always, perfectly complimenting John Lithgow! I could go on for another paragraph or two. But, you get the idea! Who else loved this show?!
