Watch_Dogs. Deus Ex. Detroit: Become Human. As the list of games centered around a cyberneticc future grows, a common gameplay element begins to emerge: hacking. Is it realistic? Does it add to the game? That’s what we look at today.

On this channel, we like to take a deeper dive into common gameplay elements that cross games. Today, we’re looking at the concept of hacking, and how it exists as a minigame feature in some cases, going all the way up to full-blown hacking simulators. In either case, we show some examples and pick apart how hacking was applied in some games in gameplay and world building, then discuss its merits and weakness.

While discussing this, we will look at gameplay from games like Watch_Dogs, Watch_Dogs 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Fallout, Bioshock, Ratchet and Clank, as well as some smaller hacking simulators like Dark Signs Online, Grey Hack, hack_me, and HackNet.
