.hack//MUTATION (PS2) - Part 21
Better late than never but here is .hack//MUTATION (or Dot Hack 2).
To copy and paste my original summary for this series, Dot Hack (or .hack) is something I have wanted to introduce myself to for a very longtime now. Finally, I have found the courage to do it.
For those unfamiliar with it, Dot Hack is basically a JRPG set within an MMO experience, infact, its chief gimmick comes from how accurately it replicates that environment.
From the moment you enter "The World" (an apt name for Dot Hack's game within a game), the very hub-world you enter has all the trappings of a traditional online role playing adventure. Ironically enough, Dot Hack goes to great measures to replicate this further from its repetitive, clicky/grindy combat, to the very user interface that mimics the various chat-boxes and online web forums available to access during play. It truly is a one of a kind experience, if for that alone.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is NOT a walkthrough guide. I am not aiming for 100% completion. I do try my best to get the highest companion ratings and weapons in preparation for .hack//Outbreak (of which I will create a video series for later during 2018). I do not know the metagame nor have the patience for it. For the most part, this is played only for the enjoyment of the story and side-quests that are on offer. Apoligees in advance if my style of play disappoints anyone.
Furthermore, for whatever reason, the copy I used had some missing voice overs. I think this is due to the fact I opted to play my backup of the game from HDD rather than on DVD, I will not repeat this mistake when I eventually complete a playthrough for .hack//OUTBREAK
Otherwise, please do enjoy. Leave any feedback in the comments if you feel the need to do so.
