Hadean Tactics (2021) - Hell's play on Slay the Spire!
1A preview of this game can bring so many mixed feelings. On one hand, you have a board similiar to Slay the Spire, where you start at the bottom and have multiple paths to the top. At the top, a boss waits for you to test the experience you've gained throughout.
Then it switches to the combat aspect, in which you have a battlefield with live combat and cards? Yup. I was confused at first. Then I played it. The game combines some awesome aspects into a fluid battler. At the start of combat, you play cards to boost your allies, hurt your enemies, summon more creatures, or change the battlefield to your advantage.
Combat reminds me a lot of Autochess or Teamfight Tactics, in which your characters battle automatically after being placed, using their abilities after enough mana has been acquired. Then, after a few seconds, combat pauses again to allow you to play another round of cards.
I love the innovation that Hadean Tactics brings to the genre. I had a great first run with the game and look forward to so many more!
