This is a video I shot after my VR4 went down off of 680 just before the Sunol Grade. I was following my buddy in his Miata after merging onto 680 and at about 50MPH the car suddenly lost power. I clutched in and coasted to the shoulder. I thought it was out of gas so I called AAA for some gas and still wouldn't start. So I had it towed. This is after I checked the fuel system out and it seemed to be working fine...

When I tear down the engine and timing components I will try to find out the cause it could be the balance shaft belt gave out and took out the timing belt. We'll see..
