You cannot play half-life Alyx as a standalone quest 2 game. You need to connect to a gaming PC to play it.

Do you have a gaming PC?

If yes then you can use my recommended app virtual desktop. It costs money on the quest 2 store. You download the app on your gaming PC and then it streams the game from your PC to your quest 2 headset via your router. From my experience you need to be pretty much in the same room as your router and have your gaming PC plugged in via ethernet. You don’t really even notice a delay the game feels great.
Air Link is oculus version of virtual desktop and is the same but is free. From my experience it’s a bit glitchy at the moment but I’m sure they will fix it in no time.
Oculus link just involves plugging a cable from your headset to your PC. You don’t need the official oculus link cable you can use any USB 3.0 to USB C cable as long as it can transfer enough data. From
ALVR is an open-source free alternative to virtual desktop and air link.
My preference is Virtual Desktop it’s just the best all-around application for PC VR.
If you don’t have a gaming PC pretty much your only option is to rent a cloud PC. I will leave a link below to a good video on how to set that up. Apparently, the lag isn’t great but without a gaming PC it’s your only option and worth a shot.
Once you connect to gaming PC it works great. It works by grouping your last 3 fingers together and then your index and thumb. You can crush cans with the A button. From what I have seen there is no way to get individual finger tracking on the quest 2 like you can with the index controllers. Even using the quest 2 camera finger tracking it still groups your last 3 fingers.
