Half Life: how water is supposed to look like (OpenGL vs Original Software Renderer)
As you can see at the end of the video, water was never meant to be pepperoni water, but a thin layer of clear water over a surface of red rocks.
This was never addressed by Valve, in any version or 3D accelerated renderers, some things, including water but not only that (just that water is the most apparent) look significantly better in the original software renderer.
Sorry for the brightness changes between renderer changes, I can't do anything about that, Valve doesn't care about their own game so I guess we'll have to deal with it.
