Alan Wake (original) big CPU bottleneck lift and performance increase by using DXVK (Vulkan)
Note that this won't help you if you are GPU limited, but only if you are CPU limited (GPU not utilized at 100%). I can't tell if the same difference can be observed on the remaster because I don't own it, guess you'll have to find that out yourself ;)
MSI Afterburner / RTSS doesn't show up with Vulkan, it happens with some games that's why I have the Steam Overlay FPS counter active as a backup.
I'm using a GTX 1080 Ti and a Ryzen 5800X 3D, before that I was using a Ryzen 3800X and the native D3D9 performance was even worse, sometime getting close to 70 FPS! Vulkan was giving me 95 ish.
Now with the 5800X 3D the performance difference is the same, but from 105 to 135 FPS which is definitely not marginal especially if you want a locked 120Hz experience.
I'm using the large address aware patcher for the exe as dxvk is known to increase system ram utilization a little so it's much safer and avoids out of memory crash situations for 32 bit apps.
