So I found a disc copy of this game in a second hand shop for €1 (screw Steam, I'mma no going there just to be able to play a game if I know there's a copy on disc I can use and which doesn't require it) and played through the game and encountered this... I don't remember this from the PS2 version at all.
The only thing I give to Steam version is that menus are not locked to 640x480 as I've heard that, it seriously sucks here. But then, I got the Uplink demo as an extra on the disc! (Best Seller series, European disc from 2001)
By the way, I suck at FPS games, have me a controller or keyboard combined with a mouse and the AIM NEEDS TO BE LIKE THIS. Thank goodness there's auto aim option, which helps a bit.
