How to get started? Install Lambda1VR, the Half-Life VR mod for the Oculus Quest!
Lambda1VR is the Half-Life port for the Oculus Quest by dr beef. (post updated 19.10.19)

You will be able to play original HL with full 6DoF weapons and room scale. Just as it was a native VR game. It's based on the Xash3d engine.

Visit Lambda1vr.com for more info and to DONATE if you wish!

Visit https://github.com/DrBeef/Lambda1VR/releases for the latest release notes and more technical infos.

What you need to have:
An original copy of Half-Life is needed. The original half-life can be purchased on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/70/HalfLife/PLEASE NOTE: Half-life: Source is not compatible.

A PC or Mac with SideQuest installed. (Pros can use ADB commands of course)Download the latest version of SideQuest here: https://github.com/the-expanse/SideQuest/releases

Installation
Make sure your Quest is in developer mode, might have been disabled after an oculus update. Enable using the oculus phone app.

SideQuest

The easiest way to install this on your Quest is using SideQuest, a PC app designed to simplify sideloading apps and games on Standalone Android Headsets like Oculus Quest and Oculus Go. It is not against the ToS of Oculus to sideload Half-Life!

Download and install the latest Sidequest to your PC/Mac. Run Sidequest.

Search Lambda1VR in "GAMES" in Sidequest. Click install.

Before attempting to start Lambda1VR you need to do the following: Create a folder on your Quest called "xash".

Locate the install of half-life on your PC, if installed from Steam then it will be somewhere likeC:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamApps/common/HalfLife/.

Copy the entire folder "valve" to the newly created "xash" folder on the Quest. This can take up to 20 minutes.

Ready! You can now play Half Life in VR after a device restart!.Lambda1VR is under Unknown Sources. (Make sure the developer mode is activated if you don't see "unknown sources" in oculus home.)

Read on if you want to make HL look and sound better.

Graphical and sound improvements:
Important: Launch lambda1vr and start a new game at least once before continuing!

Improving the NPC character and other models. This will give you much nicer character models (especially the guards, barney. The original valve model looks not human!)

Copy the contents of the valve_hd folder on your PC into the valve folder on your Quest. I suggest to not copy all model files over but only the Scientists and barney files since copying all file may have an unreasonable impact on performance. But some people might like it better with all files, try it out. You can always switch back to the original files. If you are a Mac user please read this post, otherwise you will get a crash: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lambda1VR/comments/cls57m/mac_running_halflife_with_hd_assets_on_quest/

Install the HD Textures Pack based on HL:GOLD by "Crowbar"

This pack looks really nice, i suggest you install this. It has been tested by a dozent of players and seems to make no problems. The performance impact is minimal to zero. It also changes some sound files. Installing the textures is easy and takes no longer than 30 minutes (with download)

Improving performance:
Make sure VBO is activated in video options.

Lambda1VR runs with 72hz most of the time. But there is always room for improvements. Read this to learn how to improve the framerate a big amount: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lambda1VR/comments/dgffny/increase_performance_raise_the_cpu_gpu_level/
