SONIC THE HEDGEHOG IS A YAKUZA MONEY LAUNDERING SCHEME AND HERE'S WHY: Sega in the past have had very close connections going back to the early nineties, their former president Nakayama notoriously had dealings with the gang going back to when he worked for a trading company before working for Sega. There have been accusations of Sega in that time frame of paying the Yakuza to kidnap developers or their family members if they suspected disloyalty. (This is real, look it up) Then you have the fact that the Yakuza game series famously asked Yakuza members to look over the games to ensure accuracy, this may imply that Sega still deals with the gangsters to this day. Now hear me out, this could totally recontextualize a lot of the development woes of Sonic Boom and Sonic Forces. Sonic Boom was initially two totally different projects: an action focused reboot game of the Sonic franchise by Big Red Button and a comedy cartoon made by OuiDo. Eventually the two projects were merged into one IP and Sega started to demand seemingly pointless changes on both sides. In hindsight, this all seems like a case of shifting papers around almost in an attempt to hide something, a very common practice with shell companies. As for Sonic Forces, it’s much more straightforward. Sonic Forces was reported to be in “planning stages” for 3 of the 4 years it was in development, only leaving one year to make the game and bring it to stores worldwide. Why the heck did they spend so much time before actually making a game that they already knew was going to be a 25th anniversary title? Simple: wasting money and burning assets. As long as they get a return, which the Sonic brand has proven to do regardless of quality, then it was a success. I agree that this is completely insane, but think about it, all other projects made under Sega have been legitimately good games with a lot of time and care put into them... all except their flagship title. At this point with how many times I’ve been burned by that little blue rat I feel criminal activity is more believable than the sheer incompetence that Sega has put on display.
