This is the end. I'm glad it's over. I will say that in terms of final boss fights, these types are my favorite. I don't like boss battles, so being able to just essentially play a level and escape without backtracking is nice. However, I hate driving that Warthog.
Final thoughts? This is the first time I ever completed it and it's weird to have only really played the first half. So playing through the second half, which feels like a totally different game is kind of disorienting. Never in my life and all my exposure to the Halo franchise through the years would I have considered there were different enemy types from the Covenant. The Flood? I may have heard the term in relation to Halo, but I never thought much beyond that.
It's a 20-year-old game and it feels every bit that age, less the graphics. Playing the game in 4K is wonderful and it looks great. Still, structurally I would say the game aged appropriately. There is something there worth playing. The back half of the game is more fun than the front half. As much as I hated playing the first half, the last few missions certainly made up for it.
