1Pit-Fighter, originally released in arcades in 1990, made its way to multiple platforms, including the 1992 Atari Lynx and Game Boy versions. This iconic side-scrolling, 3rd-person fighting game features digitized graphics of real fighters, which was a novel approach at the time. Players can choose from three distinct characters—Buzz, Ty, or Kato—and fight their way through a series of matches, earning knockout bonuses, brutality bonuses, and a fight purse.
The game emphasizes gritty combat with intense one-on-one battles and special Grudge Matches every third fight. As players progress, they strive to face off against the champion, the Masked Warrior, in the final Elimination Match.
