Summer 13, Year 1 - Cooking Festival and New Discoveries as Chelsea w/ Commentary [part 2/2]

I feel like an idiot. lol Oh well. You learn something everyday. So ignore most of the things I said on Summer 12 about receiving birthday gifts. If you're birthday is on a festival that ends at 6pm, you can still receive birthday gifts by going into people's houses after the festival if they are at 6 hearts or higher (I think that's right).


~~Cooking Festival~~

You need a Kitchen before you can even think about entering in this festival. To get a Kitchen, upgrade your house to the medium size, the Refrigerator will be unlocked, and you can buy it from Chen for 2500G. After the option of the Refrigerator is gone, the option of the Kitchen will appear.

For the first part of this festival, go to Meadow Island between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Talk to Pierre to find out the category. He will then ask if you want to participage, and then tell you the category of recipes that are going to be judged.

Year 1 - Salad
Year 2 - Soup/Drink
Year 3 - Appetizer
Year 4 - Main Course
Year 5 - Dessert
After year 5, categories repeat starting from Salad

After you enter the festival and learn the category, you will be transported back to your farm house. You need to make the dish and return to Meadow Island before 6:00 pm that day. Don't forget to go back!

To win first place, you will want to submit a recipe that has a lot of additional ingredients mixed in. To do this, select "Make some alterations" from the kitchen cooking menu. You then can choose your base-recipe and add in extra ingredients. The quality, size, and freshness of the extra ingredients will affect the rank of the resulting cooked dish, just as the recipe's basic ingredients do. The STAMINA recovery of the dish determines if it will be judged to be the winner by Pierre.

Where the Cooking Festival is, there is a list of things that are recommended. Still, you can experiement with your ingredients. The game does tell you if you are gonna make a failed dish.

Don't forget you can substitute the animal products for their superb versions. If a recipe calls for an Egg, you can replace it with a Silkie Egg for some additional Stamina recovery points.

After you have finished cooking your recipe, return to Meadow Island and give it to Pierre. He will judge your entry against the other villagers. If you are the winner, you will win a Wonderful Stone, +700 fp with everyone at the festival, and +1000 Cooking Degree points.
