Missions are accepted by taking prescription medication. These "missions" are given to you by a guy who has a whoopee cushion on his office furniture and sleeps(or passes out) under his desk. The levels are full of characters who at best throw themselves into traffic, take things too literally, reveal captions that don't reflect their speech and fully commit to bad jokes and puns. Each environment does have objectives but exploring the strange people and placebos along the way is a must. Jazzpunk is a delightful first person abstract, quirk-filled, try-and-see game. If I told you more, I'd ruin it. Just play this game.
