I'm using the Darker Background option because I'm not great at visually tracking shmup bullets. Anyway, Hazelnut Hex is a great game! I helped out as a tester on the original release, mostly playing normal mode, so it was nice to revisit the game now that it's out on Steam and go for a 1CC of moderate mode (which is what this game calls hard mode). I died a lot in this run, but you get a lot of extends for scoring well so it's fine.

The main ways to score points are lining up lots of enemies with your charge shot, picking up the items they drop, using bombs when there are lots of bullets on the screen (usually during a boss' final phase), and defeating bosses without using your charge shot or taking damage, although bombing is allowed.

Played on the Steam release (v1.1.2).
