Upcoming HBO drama series ‘The Idol’ has undergone massive rewrites and reshoots, reportedly due to the fact that Co-creator and star Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) felt the show was leaning too far into a “female perspective”. This led to the departure of original director Amy Seimetz in April of 2022, who has since been replaced with Euphoria creator and showrunner Sam Levinson.
