TrackMania Nations Forever is free-to-play 3D fast paced racing MMO. The game is developed by Nadeo and published by various companies: digital jesters (UK), focus (France), enlight (US), buka (CIS), steam (international).

Unlike most other racing games, the TrackMania lets the player race a track as many times as they want within a time limit. Players may choose to respawn at any time if they land upside down, leave the track or get off to a poor start. Although in multiplayer games multiple cars race on the same track, they cannot collide or otherwise influence each other.

TrackMania Nations Forever includes the new stadium blocks and physics system introduced in TrackMania United, which allow TrackMania United Forever and TrackMania Nations Forever players to compete on the same (Stadium) servers.

The stadium mode is the only mode that has been released for free in the Trackmania Nations ESWC or Trackmania Nations Forever downloadable game. It is driven with a car that is a mix of a Formula-1 and a dirty buggy, which comes in a color scheme matching the flag of the country the player controlling it set as his/her home. The environment itself is featured in a football stadium which can be modified to have dirt or water areas and features two sub-modes: the primary one which is driven on asphalt tracks which has boosts, jumps and that can be elevated above the track. It also has a dirt mode which is limited to staying on the ground and has no boosts. This creates a potential dynamic in the various tracks as the asphalt provides good grip while the dirt track has the player sliding around tight corners. Because of this environment being featured in the free versions of Trackmania it is the prominent mode for online play and is featured in the majority of tracks and playthroughs found on the internet.

10. The game features a network option, which allows players to compete via a LAN or over the Internet while players may upload their created tracks or skins to the game's website for use by other players.
11. A large number of tracks are available on the community-driven site TM Exchange website. Skins and 3D car models are also available from the community. TrackMania Carpark having the most car models and TM Skincenter skins ranging from the original TrackMania Sunrise car models to those available from the TrackMania Carpark website.
