ON THE TEAM’S THREE-POINT DEFENSE TONIGHT:
“I honestly believe that we just fucked around with the game. We are not good enough to do that. Our transition defense was bad and once you let guys get going, you can try to run them off the line but it don’t work.”
ON IF THIS WAS A DISSAPOINTING LOSS:
“Yes. It is kind of hard for us to have a disappointing loss for us at this point, but this was definitely one of them. We played pretty horrible the entire game and we were in the game, pretty much the entire game. It was definitely disappointing.”
ON IF HE EXPECTED TO BEAT MEMPHIS TONIGHT:
“The last couple of games before Chicago, Charlotte and Atlanta we kind of let go of the rope and then we bounced back in Chicago and pulled out a win on that road trip. Then we expect to come back home and try to get a win there. We didn’t do that tonight.”
ON BEING A COACH ON THE COURT WITH THE YOUNGER GUYS:
“There is always some disappointment in losing. Whether you are bringing someone along or not. It is still disappointing when you lose, but you do have an appreciation seeing the young guys grow. I don’t care how you state it losing is disappointing.”
ON WHETHER THE THINGS HAPPENING ON THE COURT ARE FIXABLE:
“They are definitely fixable. They are mental. There are a few effort mistakes, turnovers in which we can control, getting back in transition, we can control so there are a lot of things that we could control.”
ON WHAT THE TEAM NEEDS TO DO MOVING FORWARD:
“Win. Compete at a high level. You are not going to win every game. I don’t care if you are great. You are not winning every game in this league. You can at least feel good about how you compete. If we competed at the level that we needed to compete that we can, we would have won this game.”
ON HIS SCORING OUTPUT TONIGHT:
“I was just trying to take what the defense gave me. It always helps when you can knock the first few shots down. That was great for the confidence. It’s cool but we got our ass beat so it doesn’t matter.”
