This time I test how long Forza Horizon 5 loads.

So, the ssd did win this time, but, I want to give my opinion.
It's not that big a deal.
I mean, people go on about the "blazing speed", and hype up ssd like they are so much faster it will make a hdd feel unusable, but really, the main load of the game, the bit after the start screen was 20s difference.
If it were 0s vs 20s, then yes, I would agree with the general public opinion because you'd be going from what feels instant (and basically is) to something that requires waiting.
but no
It's 20s vs 40s
neither are what I'd call blazing fast or instant load times or any other buzz words/phrases people would use to describe it.

And that long load happens once
just once
Once in game every load screen is like the last one in the video
4s vs 9s
without the side by side or timer, I couldn't notice the difference. Not big enough for me to care honestly.

You know what ya'll should be caring about?
The 40 some second un-skippable splash screen. If I could skip that, it would make way more difference than spending extra on an ssd.

A little bit of math here to end this rant thing:
1tb ssd = £100 (time of purchase)
1tb hdd = £40

so you pay double to save 4s from your (in game) loading time
ok correction, its raid 0 I tested
so then it would be 3tb hdd = £120
ok a 500gb hdd x3 would be around
£15 x 3
lets say £20 each
so
1.5tb hdd = £60
ssd still cost £40 more
gives 500gb less space
and only 4s faster in the loading screen that you see most frequent
not sure I'd want to spend £40 just for that and also get less storage at the same time
4s isn't big enough for me to care
especially if it means I sacrifice 500gb
anyway
this is also just 1 game tested
its 170gb in size too and its a pretty new game with a big open world. (If I were to test a older/smaller game instead? would the gap become smaller?)
so errr, might wanna keep that in mind also
just saying, more storage space isn't a bad thing when games are this big

so basically, hdd aren't dead/useless yet.

Score so far:
HDD Raid 0: 2
SSD: 1

Toshiba X300 HDWR440 (x3 Striped)
Samsung 870 QVO (x1)
Windows 11
Intel Core i7 10700k
24GB DDR4 3200mhz
