The galaxy’s most lovable jerks are back for another spacey adventure. So, what’s new this time around? Let’s tell you all the juicy details you need to know about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And yes, we’ll get to the merchandising masterstroke that is Baby Groot.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are a band of mercenaries who offer their services to those in need. The team consists of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
When we last left our heroes, they had banded together to go forth into the galaxy and get paid to be good guys. The new film takes place a few months later and has the team not quite being able to work together just yet.
The gang gets hired by Ayesha, a member of an ancient race known as the Eternals, to seek out a being known as Ego. SPOILER WARNING!!! Turns out Ego is Star-Lord’s big papa, the one who left Peter on Earth and imbued him with some kind of cosmic power.
Don’t forget about the Ravagers, the space pirate band that Yondu was commanding in the last movie. Well, Yondu gets overthrown by one of the Ravagers named Taserface (look it up! It’s real!) and ends up joining forces with the Guardians as well as Nebula, Gamora’s adopted sister.
The team also meets up with Mantis, a clairvoyant who seems to be connected to Ego in some way and might be connected to Peter as well. Hmmm… could Peter have a sister?
Well, things won’t stay cozy for long and it’ll be up to the Guardians to learn to work together as a family and save the day.
...Oh yeah, I almost forgot. So, Groot sacrificed himself to save the team in the last movie. But a part of him survived and sprouted anew. Now, this Baby Groot - who is just so darn cute you wanna pinch his widdle wooden cheeks until your fingers are full of splinters, yes you do! - he’s not the exact same Groot we knew from before. But don’t let his size fool you. He’s got something special in store.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will rock its way into theaters on May 5th. Now, excuse me while I go rock out to that awesome soundtrack.
