The Time Bomb of the Ancients is interesting. Need a way to learn the mechanic? Try using Flechettes as Mage in Hexen (Or something else, idk, I can't afford the new stuff.) The dreadful set of weapons you're stuck with will force you to learn to the applications of a "drop where you're standing grenade" very quickly, even in the first level.

I remember being so excited to find these once because of a lack of ammo. Never deny the usefulness of a Time Bomb of the Ancients. The blast radius can be devastating when placed right.
