My second attempt at recording a DOS game, and a successful attempt at that - high quality video and audio were achieved. Enjoy the old school music! It's memorable, for all of it's pop-music ripping off. Copyright Infringement, what is that? It's also the only music, nay, sound in the entire game, so playing this game for long periods of time is NOT recommended lest you get this song drilled into your brain.

This is the second level to the game HeroQuest, a digital conversion of the board game of the same name. It's a very slow paced game (not that's a bad thing). The video has been sped up - the original recording was about 20 minutes, 6 of which were just getting out of the dungeon (and.. since i'd wiped the board of monsters, there was nothing on the way out.)
In most games, where completing the mission immediately ends it, in this you have to actually leave the dungeon in one piece.

Like most board game conversions the game relies on luck just as much as strategy - it's very easy to lose one of your characters to a couple of bad rolls, the wizard in particular only has 4 hit points, with a basic Orc able to take off 3 with a lucky roll.
I can't remember the rules of the original (I can remember the house rules.)

It's been a seriously long time since i've played this. I can't even remember what the spells do. (The game doesn't tell you. XD)

On a funny note, the dungeon's "boss monster" (stronger than average creature) is killed with a single spell, and finding the hidden door was pure guess work on my part. I can't remember a damn thing about the game. The game can be found for free on various Abandonware sites, and runs at the correct speed in DosBox. The game is more fun than it looks, although I prefer Space Crusade overall as a video game adaptation..
There is apparently a Online remake of the game in the works, a

Either way - the board game IS better than the computer adaptation. You can't have house rules in video game adaptation.

On a personal note, I'm still not very well, so, yeah. I'll be making regular uploads again soonish.
