Hi-Octane by Bullfrog, 1995.

Bullfrog forced the Magic Carpet engine into a 3D futuristic racing game. The result is... foggy! This game runs between too-fast and too-slow, as it has an uncapped frame rate, meaning if you set DOSBox too high, it'll be unplayably fast, but too low and it'll become a slide show. I set it quite fast here, but even so, there are some moments of slide show!

Here's a lap of each of the starter tracks and each of the vehicles (excluding the one designed for deathmatch fighting). It's an okay game, not the best, but not the worst. There is a 3D accelerated version, but that's just for the Creative 3D Blaster card, which I don't have.

I think I can hear at least one sound effect repurposed from Magic Carpet (when picking up power-ups). Sound is otherwise functional, as are the tunes.
