Fatal Racing / Whiplash (1995) - Every PC F1 Game
Fatal Racing / Whiplash by Gremlin Interactive/Interplay Productions, 1995.
Typing LOVEBUN as your name in Fatal Racing (aka Whiplash) unlocks a bonus F1 car, with stats maxed out (not that that makes it particularly that much easier to drive!).
Looking like a Ferrari F1 car, and adorned with the number 28, it's clear someone was a Gerhard Berger fan!
The car still sounds like the other cars in the game though. Note: the game does support Replays, but I've not been able to get it to record any (maybe to do with how I launch the game) so there are no external views here.
The game does have a 3Dfx Glide version too, but often that runs a bit jerky for me, so I've stuck with the software 3D version instead. You can see the 3Dfx version partly on my Fatal Racing/Whiplash video in my PC Futuristic Racing Games playlist video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAyWwYbbbek
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Not Monza, obviously, but a crazy enough start!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:30 Yeah, this isn't really Silverstone-esque either! No rain in this game.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:48 There are plenty of tunnels though, a bit like a banked, crazy Monaco?
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:10 Again, no rain. But this track feels a bit like non-stop Eau Rouge sequences!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:37 There are working pits in the game, to fix your damage! You just have to park and wait...
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:58 I go on a quest to wreck my car here, but it takes a long time, even with damage set to high! So I've cut to the end result, if you don't pit whilst you're smoking and on fire... a bit Mortal Kombat!
