Having verified that Arcade Gannon is going to survive his ordeal in the previous episode, our plan now is to make contact with the Brotherhood of Steel. Our introduction to this illustrious organisation will be facilitated by our old friend Veronica, who just so happens to be a member.

Elder McNamara is in charge, and his first job for us is to make contact with some paladins that he sent out on patrol. It just so happens that we've already stumbled upon one of them before. The next patrol is located nearby, in an irradiated crater to the east. We retrieve the holotape and then accidentally stumble through a gate and bump into a friendly supermutant called Neil, who wants us to go on a quest to the top of Black Mountain. Uh, okay. Why not.
