Highlight of #COP15: Chinese youth dialogue with CBD Executive Secretary 中国青年线上对话《生物多样性公约》执行秘书活动

As part of a warm up event for the UN Biodiversity Conference (#COP15) Youth-Engagement parallel activities, “Online dialogue between Chinese youth and the CBD Executive Secretary” (中国青年线上对话《生物多样性公约》执行秘书活动) was held on 21 May 2021.
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the Republic of China (MEE) and the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) co-hosted the event, supported by the Center for Environmental Education and Communications (CEEC) of MEE and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) China.
Representatives of Chinese youth met with CBD Executive Secretary Elizabeth Maruma Mrema and WWF International Director-General Marco Lambertini for a fruitful exchange. They also heard from the leaders of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of #China, who highlighted the vital role youth must play in #biodiversity action.
Jia Feng, Director of CEEC of MEE, and Zhou Fei, Chief Programme Officer of WWF China presided over the meeting. Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of MEE, gave a welcome speech for the event. Executive Secretary of CBD Elizabeth Muremma, WWF International Director-General Marco Lambertini, and Cui Shuhong, Director of the Executive Committee of the Preparatory Work of COP 15 and Director-General of the Department of Nature and Ecology Conservation of MEE participated in the event online as special guests.
