The US is to provide the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to Ukraine as part of a new £550m support package.

It's the most significant weapon sent by the West since the start of the war, with President Joe Biden insisting it will only be used in a defensive way.

Kyiv has promised not to fire the longer-range missiles at targets inside Russia, but what is HIMARS and what can it do?
