In Hitman Absolution, Agent 47 is "betrayed by those he once trusted and now hunted by the police, he suddenly finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth". At least one portion of the game will be set in Chicago, and the game will take place in the United States. Hitman: Absolution is set at the end of the timeline. Confirmed plot details include series protagonist Agent 47 assassinating his former International Contract Agency handler, Diana Burnwood, early in the game. One of the main antagonists is Blake Dexter, a new character to the series. The character will be voiced by Keith Carradine.

Contracts Mode: Create your own custom hits by choosing the level, targets, weapons and the rules of assassination in an innovative new online mode. Disguises: As Agent 47 the identity of almost anyone you meet is yours for the taking. Immobilise your prey, steal their outfit and use your instincts to blend in and deceive your enemies. Blend in and impersonate your victims with a huge variety of disguises. Once in disguise, the world around you will change accordingly, so choose carefully.
Instinct Mode: See the world through the eyes of Agent 47 and become the world's deadliest assassin. Using Hitman: Absolution's Instinct Mode you'll predict enemy movement, discover new ways to kill and use high powered weaponry with deadly accuracy.
